SANSA Space Weather Centre

The project is located in the Hermanus and is one of five space weather centres worldwide. The centre monitors the effect of the sun on the earth by providing updates on a twenty four hour basis. This information is critical for the protection of navigation and communication infrastructure across the globe.


The curved walls resembles the magnetic fields protecting earth from solar radiation. The spaces are articulated to communicate the different uses within the main structure.


The structure house a 100 seat lecture theatre, control room and ancillary offices. Additional to the main building is guest house accommodation for visiting scientists.
